The next time it comes to trading in a mobile phone with Mazuma, consumers looking to reduce their carbon footprint may be best investing in a handset from Nokia.
According to the Finnish manufacturer’s 2009 Sustainability Report, it is the best in the business at producing devices with minimal emissions.
During the 12-month period, Nokia is said to have reduced the carbon dioxide output of its mobile phones by 12 per cent, when compared with levels recorded in 2006.
It also managed to reach its target for energy savings three years ahead of schedule.
“This report gives some great insights into the work Nokia does to enhance sustainability,” noted Esko Aho, executive vice-president at the telecommunications company.
Consumers with one eye on the environment may therefore wish to choose a Nokia phone at the next opportunity.
The firm’s mobile devices are currently accessed by some 1.2 billion people across the world every day.
