Mobile Burn contributor Ricky Cadden looked at the device this week and noted although it may offer an eco-friendly solution, there are many more reasons for those recycling mobile phones to consider buying one.
The Motorola W233 Renew was unveiled by its creators in January at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, boasting a carbon neutral manufacturing process and parts made from recycled plastic bottles.
However, the build quality of the gadget is another area where it succeeds and Mr Cadden also praises the battery life – which is better than advertised.
“The Renew is estimated to offer nine hours of talk time, while standby time is rated at 18 days,” he said. “I was easily able to last through three days of moderate usage, with several phone calls and a few hours of music playback.”
