The company has confirmed more than two million of the new devices have already been sold, despite it only being released in the US on April 3rd.
Specifications and features that may be behind the surge in demand for the tablet include the provision of more than 5,000 new apps and the latest touchscreen technology.
By trading in an old mobile for cash, consumers will have something to put towards buying an iPad.
“Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad and seem to be loving it as much as we do,” said Steve Jobs, chief executive officer at Apple.
Those who splash out on an iPad will be able to use it to read books, listen to music, browse the web and send emails.
It was released in the UK last week (May 28th).
