Vodafone announced this week that it has been in discussions Apple and will now offer the model as part of its range.
This may tempt those who currently have an Apple iPhone on the O2 network to trade in their used device should the operator announce a more favourable tariff.
Although these details have yet to be confirmed, Vodafone has set up a dedicated webpage where interested parties can leave their details for when the information becomes available.
The network did confirm it was expecting the iPhone to be launched in the early part of next year.
Vodafone’s announcement comes just days after it was revealed the gadget would also be launched on Orange – ending O2’s exclusivity deal in the UK.
However, the latter company responded to the move by stating it would remain the “home of smartphones” thanks to the acquisition of handsets like the recently-announced Palm Pre.
