Businesses and homeowners are being encouraged to use new mobile phones for security purposes.
The Mobile Phone Security Industry Association intends to promote the use of handsets in the security industry at the IFSEC show in Birmingham on Thursday May 13th.
It suggests that, with 4.4 billion mobile and smartphones in use around the world, integrating them into the security industry through the use of video monitoring and tracking services application could be possible.
Companies considering upgrading their technology could sell their old handsets for cash with Mazuma.
Sebastian Zabala, a security expert and senior project manager for the UK and Sweden at Panda Security, stated that most businesses are already using smartphones.
It is now possible to have more control of a smartphone than it is to use a regular desktop, he suggested.
Gartner research found that last year smartphone sales reached 172.4 million units, a 23.8 per cent increase from 2008.
