More than 20 million adults in the UK fail to get their money’s worth out of their mobile phone contracts every month, new research has found.
According to moneysupermarket.com, 48 per cent of people with free texts use approximately 94 messages fewer than they are entitled to.
In addition to this, 46 per cent of people with free call time use about 122 minutes less than they are paying for.
The price comparison website estimates that as much as £10 billion a year is wasted because consumers only use around 66 per cent of their tariffs.
“Whilst it’s always good to be under your monthly allowance and avoid any extra costs, it’s important to get the most out of your contract,” commented James Parker, moneysupermarket.com’s mobiles manager.
In January, the website reported that many consumers are ending up with mobile phone contracts that are unnecessarily big for them because they are “dazzled” by special offers.
