Some consumers may like to recycle mobilephones to pay for a new model that comes without the confines of a contract.

For these people, a sim-only package – which involves signing up for a plan without a handset – can often be a useful purchase and Vodafone has this week boosted its range of options.

The carrier unveiled a selection of new 30-day and 12-month tariffs that all offer facilities like unlimited web use, infinite text messaging and anytime calling credit.

“For customers that are happy with their phone and want to keep their number, Vodafone’s sim-only deals are packed with value and now with the choice of unlimited data they offer great flexibility for all lifestyles,” the carrier explained.

Earlier this week, the operator also unveiled a series of new pay-as-you-go packages featuring touchscreen handsets that were suggested as ideal Christmas presents.

The selection included the new Samsung Genio.
