Consumers who have recently upgraded to the latest phones from Apple and Research In Motion (RIM) may be interested in a new downloadable application for their device.

Platinum Protection announced the availability of a new software package this week that can connect to a home CCTV system and provide remote access to alarms.

In addition to being able to switch security networks on and off from an iPhone or BlackBerry, the widget allows the user to view their cameras and track through the room.

Chance Allred, partner at Platinum Protection, said: “Using this advanced technology customers can keep track of homes, vacation properties and even view children and pets in real time.”

One of the latest RIM handsets to feature on the Vodafone network is the BlackBerry Curve 8520, which replaces the trackball that has been found on other new models with a touch-sensitive pad.
