Both major tech companies have confirmed within hours of each other, that they will be announcing the dates for the release of their new products. Apple’s ‘Spring Loaded Event” is scheduled for the 20th April 2021 and Samsung’s “the most powerful Galaxy is coming” for the 28th April 2021.
Rumours have it, that Apple could be releasing a new iPad, iMac, and HomePod as well as accessories such as AirPod’s and an Apple Pen in black as an option. A new product that may be introduced is the AirTag, which allows you to track your valuables by attaching small trackers to them. These trackers are claimed to have the ability to pinpoint the location of an item with greater accuracy than existing trackers in the market.
There has been talk Apple could also release a new SE model which would be an improved version of the current 2020 SE range. With regards to the new iPad Pro, it is expected that the external design of the range will not change much, but the specifications will be improved as well as including a new A14X chip. In conjunction with the new iPad Pro, an updated iPad Mini or Mini Pro, for the more budget-conscious, could also be part of the announcement. Furthermore, according to MacRumors, a new iMac may be released that looks like the Pro Display XDR but will have thinner bezels around the frame and a slimmer screen.
Apple users can also get excited about the IOS 14.5 software update, which will see new emojis added to the list, and small improvements made to existing features and functionality. It may even become possible to unlock iPhones while wearing a facemask if you have your Apple Watch handy and unlocked. On the other hand, Samsung is expected to unveil their new tablets and flagship phone, the Galaxy M42 5G at their ‘Unpacked’ event. The new phone will have an improved display, and a better quality, smoother rear pop-up camera design. It may also include a fingerprint scanner under the display as well as a 200-megapixel image sensor.
There has also been talk about a premium ultra-thin laptop that may be the Galaxy Book Pro and will come in two sizes. With mock-up images of the new laptop already leaked onto the web, a slim full-size keyboard, large trackpad, and even thinner bezels around the AMOLED screen can be expected. The laptop may also be released in a range of colours including gold, silver, blue, white, and navy. The virtual event will be screened live on Wednesday, 28th April at 10.00 a.m. EDT/7.00 a.m. PDT on Samsung’s website.
